Museum Evolution

The idea of a world class ‘Infantry Research Centre and Museum’ was mooted by the then COAS, Gen NC Vij in 2003 and whole heartedly endorsed by the 27th ICC in 2003. It was inaugurated 16 years later on 27 Nov 2019 during the 35th ICC by the then COAS, Gen Bipin Rawat, PVSM, UYSM, AVSM, YSM, SM, VSM, ADC. This Infantry Research Centre & Museum showcases the evolution of the modern Indian Infantry from 1747 onwards and is also the repository of all data about the Indian Infantry especially post 15 August 1947. The facility has already become a landmark and is now placed on the Tourism map of Madhya Pradesh as well. Ever since this world class second of its kind in the world was dedicated to the citizens of this great nation and opened to general public, it has received immense adulation and superb response from the public and the media.

The Ground Floor

The Ground Floor of The Infantry Research Centre and Museum has a Foyer and Central Atrium along with rooms depicting ‘Evolution of the Infantry in a chronological sequence from 1747 to 1998. It also has an ORIENTATION

The First Floor

The First Floor of The Infantry Research Centre and Museum has a Regimental room showcasing all the twenty seven regiments of the Infantry under one roof. It will have an exhibition area and other rooms of special interest related to the Kargil War 0f 1999, Counter Insurgency, UN Mission special Operation, Training of the Soldier and the Officer

The Second Floor

The Second Floor of The Infantry Research Centre and Museum will have a Research Centre for various regiments, institutional and formation memorabilia and an area depicting ‘Infantry Dresses, Equipment and Weapons’ through the ages. The most interesting area which will be developed by October 2023 will be a fully immersive room where the last 200 yards of the infantry battle in plains can be experienced by a discerning visitor.

Garden – D Area

The concept of the garden was to give the whole facility an immersive feel which would take the visitors into a different realm the moment they stepped inside the facility compound. There is a beautiful garden spread over nearly 2,00,000 Sq ft all around the main building. There are a total of 108 varieties of trees, perennial shrubs, plants, creepers and seasonal flowers which the discerning visitor can see while visiting the facility. The garden is in full bloom from around 15 Feb to 15 Mar every year. Green and seasonal flower saplings can be bought on payment while visiting the facility from a nursery.
